General Conference Weekend

Those of the LDS faith gather twice a year to hear counsel and learn from their senior leaders. This great and much anticipated event is called... General Conference. I really love listening to the speakers and feel so rejuvenated in many ways when the weekend is over. But I also love the 'laziness' of the weekend. I enjoyed the messages shared, and am very excited to be able to read them on my own in next month's ensign.

While listening this afternoon I was thinking if I was not of this faith and knew nothing of it, or if I had a negative opinion about the Mormon church or whatever... if I watched General Conference - what would I think? Would I think this is weird? Would I think they are evil or bad or even just not good in anyway? Or would I get negative vibes from a single thing that was shared? No. Not at all. What if I was not a believer in God at all or anything of the sort... I believe I would still be open to accept the life counsel and advice shared. It is a better way of living, as it is counsel given from older men and women who conduct themselves in a very admirable and mature nature.

I was talking to mom on the phone tonight, she shared that last week during Family Home Evening, Garrett shared that sometimes he sort of reality checks himself about if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. And he realizes that his life is based on the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is who he is because of that direction in his life. I am grateful for the Restored Gospel. For the Atonement of Jesus Christ. And for prophets to lead and guide us today. It was a wonderful weekend!

Saturday night while Seth was at the Priesthood Session, I went out and bought birthday presents for myself. The ones I decided I wanted a year ago, so I gave enough specification and time to get it :). My parents gave me money towards my first pair of Uggs. I LOVE them, THANK you mom and dad!!!! And "Seth" bought me more of my favorite perfume, Abercrombie's 8. I ran out a few weeks ago. I smell so good again! After that we went out to eat and got to sit and chit chat for a while in the car. It was a good date.

Sunday we went out to Pleasant Grove to be with family during the afternoon Session of general Conference. Cousin Abby is here to visit!! And she brought her sweet baby boy with her too. It was fun to meet Isaac and hold him for a while. I get to visit with them both more tonight. I do enjoy when the whole family gets together, and tonight will be more fun because we have the Jone's parents, Abigail, and Isaac as special guests!
