Last night LDS leaders, by satellite broadcast, have asked its members to defend traditional marriage. The Church has recently discussed California's Proposition 8 a few other times and last night - as an opportunity for all of us to defend traditional marriages. I do not live in California but there are things I can do, that we can all do, to get the word out about WHY vote YES to Proposition 8.
A few things what voting YES does:
* It restores the definition of marriage to what the vast majority of California voters already approved and what Californians agree should be supported, not undermined.
*It overturns the decision of four activist Supreme Court judges who ignored the will of the people.
* It protects our children from being taught in public schools that "same-sex marriage" is the same as traditional marriage.
"There are those who vigorously promote beliefs and practices contrary to our own. They have the right of free speech protected in our constitution. So do we. We can vigorously defend our beliefs and practices. We can do so with great conviction, but also with great love."
- Elder Quinton L. Cook
"Many of you will text message, blog, make phone calls, walk your neighborhoods, and just talk to friends, associates and neighbors. As you do this, please do so in a sensitive manner. Our approach must always be with respect for others and their positions and opinions."
- Elder M. Russell Ballard

Thank you for reminding us Megan. I also added an update on my blog which can direct people to yours (I hope you don't mind). This must be very important for the church to get involved in it like they have. I also put a video up on mine that Diane sent to me...it is very interesting and eye opening.
