Labor Day Weekend
Seth and I migrated North to Syracuse, UT for the first Unsicker USA Games at Brad and Sundee's house. We went up on Sunday afternoon and joined in on the weekend fun. There was great food, tons of family (Everyone who lives in Utah except for Ben/Mel/Olivia b/c Ben was sick - and Gma & pa missed out b/c they were at Ellia's blessing in Wisconsin).
We played Nertz (sure did miss you Abby, don't worry - I represented) for a while. And ate good food... and then the fun began. Tyler split us 27 people into three teams of 9. We then separated into our teams and thought up team names and cheers. My team (Devry as captain, Heather, Drake, Andy, Natalie, Annie, Riley, Seth, and I) were the DD Dominators - thanks to Andy. Our cheer was.... "ddddDDDominators!" :) We brought on the heat to the others, but didn't quite make it to anything special.
The games Sunday night consisted of 5 game stations. 1. Basketball Free Throws: Each team member shot 10 from the free throw line in their basement half bball court. I think we got 36 of 90 in :). The girls rocked though... Heather and Nat both shot 4 of 10, I got 5 of 10, woo hoo! 2. Penny drop: each team member dropped 10 pennies one at a time over the banister on the 3rd level to the 1st floor. Below was a cookie pan with 4 different sizes of cups, including a pill bottle. Each cup was worth different amounts of points. (1,2,4,&8) - it was hard! 3. Hole in one: each member had 3 tries to sink the golf ball in the hole. putting on an indoor 5 ft? green strip, up the hill, in the hole. (I didn't do so hot, 1 of 3. I think my first swing put a dent in their fireplace - found out quickly you don't have to give it much umph to go anywhere :) - Of course Riley sunk them all in.
4. Bumper pool: Each member had one try to hit each of the five balls lined up on the bumper pool table in the hole across the table. Our team rocked this one! We sunk in 14 balls! One of the other teams only got 3 in. Our team beat the other team's scores combined. And last, 5. Each team member tried to roll a small hot wheels car from one end of the ping pong table to the other without it falling off. Whoever got it closest to the edge represented the team. The team with the closest mark to the edge of the table won. My roll represented our team!! But unfortunately it was just a few cm away from the other teams, darn!
After those events each team had two players represent their whole team in a game of "Upwords". This was tough... DD Dominators sent in Seth and Devry. Win w/ the Kin sent in Tyler and Linda. And... Holden's Heroes had Adam and Aubree representing. This was a very, very crucial part of the events! Each team's scores were pretty close and whoever won the Upwards game took the trophy for the night. My team was doing pretty dang good, considering they only got 3 vowels the entire game... Adam and Aubree took the cake on that event. So they won the day...Linda and Tyler were very close behind them, and then Seth and Devry just barely trailed the runner ups. It was a way fun time though.
We all vegged a bit and watched movies. (Bourne Supremacy & Bourne Identity). Hayden & I were on a team of intense nertz. We took on 4 other teams and barely beat Riley & Lyndee. That was a blast, but I missed my Abigail. The food was great and we all had fun relaxing.
Seth and I were a tad worried about where'd we be sleeping that night... we took Devry and Heather's Saturday night spot on a mattress in the bball court room. The floor is all wrestling matted so that helped. But the huge open room just really scared me for some reason :). In the middle of the night Weston came in looking for his parents and it scared the crap out of me!! I got up and showed him where they moved to. But any little sound here and there was just creepy to me. I don't think poor Seth got any sleep. And then the stupid roosters next door sang to us from 6am until we decided to get up 2 1/2 hours later. :) The whole weekend was an adventure!
Sundee made us all an AMAZING breakfast, it was seriously a smörgåsbord. Waffles, omelette's, French toast, bacon, smokies, grapes, mmmmmm it was all so good. It took us all a while to get up, showered and going but Brad had an obstacle course all lined up to continue the games. This was the timed obstacle course...
1. The WHOLE team needs to be on the golf cart. There's 5 stations. first station; one player runs up a step ladder and drops 4 sponges into a bucket below. At least 2 of the 4 sponges needed to go into the bucket before advancing to the next station. This was tricky b/c of the wind.
2. The golf cart goes to the other end of the yard where 7 bottles of water are lined up and one player rolls a volleyball to knock as many down as possible - only one roll! Each bottle knocked down equals 2 seconds off the team's overall time.
3. Entire team on the golf cart goes halfway back down the yard and stop at the bball throw. One person jumps out and from the line has to make the basketball into the small 3 ft. tall hoop 10 ft ahead of them.
4. Next stop at the pitching stand. The player has to throw 4 whiffle balls in the strike zone before moving on.
5. One player jumps off the cart and hits a croquet ball through three croquet 'gates'. Then last... with the whole team on the cart still races to the finish line back in the middle of the yard.
Everyone did very well. My team, the dominators were just .2 seconds behind the Holden Heroes! It was amazing how close it was! Tyler's team - win w/ the kin killed us though. I think they got like 1:50min. (We were 2:11).
It was such a fun day... we ended it by going bowling. We all just bowled together, and kept track of the scores and added them up by teams. Seth and I headed out after bowling though, so we don't know the results. But hands down Holden's Heroes kicked trash!!
It was a lot of fun. It was so great to be with the whole family, it's been a while. And it was really nice to be away from 'life' and get out of P-town. Enjoy the Pictures!

I totally know what you mean about sleeping on the basketball court, very creepy. Did Wes crall into bed with you? haha It's awesome that Aubrey abd holden went! Sounds like the only thing missing from the games was a road rally. We used to do them when everyone lived in Iowa.Sounds like a crazy Unzie blast!
