Well... There are lots of events I want to post, but it will be backtracking. Seth and I have just been working all summer. We went to Michigan for a week the beginning of June, but other than that have been in Provo. Gma and pa Unsicker have been traveling the last two months and I borrowed Gma's sewing machine so I could finish a king-size quilt I've been talking a
bout making for years... Well, They get back Tuesday (I think) and so I've pretty much made it the last 3 days :) And have 2 more days to finish. Finish as in... just do the top part. We'll see how long it takes me to actually get it on a frame and tie it, etc. But that has been my hobby the last week. It is nothing special, just something quick and basic to get rid of all the jeans I've collected from friends for a quilt. (there are like 10 more rows than pictured - it's gigantic!!)
As I was taking pictures of the quilt layout, I just kept going and took pictures of our apartment - We just moved into North Wymount (BYU family housing) the beginning of May. So really no one has seen it. I've tried to turn the apartment into a home, but it's still in the projects. To the left is our Kitchen - NO counter top space!!! It really stinks, but we make it work. Our fridge is across from the stove in an indent of the wall so you can't see it, but it's there. This kitchen is way smaller than our kitchen than our last apt.
This is our living room. It's pretty big. We like the layout of North Wymount more than South... same square footage but different. Seth's watching Eragon on our little TV. It's a normal average size TV but in the big room it's just too small. He has been dying for a nice 37"(or more) flat screen, he looks for deals online everyday. He keeps dreaming... maybe for Christmas we'll treat ourselves to it. I'd really like to put curtains up in here too, but they're too expensive. I've thought about making some... but that's another project on the list of things to do.
This is our bathroom... So small! We really need a new shower curtain... that's from my student apartment 2 years ago :). Another thing to add on to the list, but money we just don't want to spend. Seth and I both work 8:30-5:00. I just get up 15 min earlier than him to shower and we don't have to fight for the bathroom. It all works out pretty well.
This is our bedroom... Just one big closet with lots of clothes hung up. And our King size bed that was a graduation gift to Megan from the parents. And Seth and I love it so much! It's the best thing we own!! (besides the cars). We talk about how comfortable it is pretty much every night when we're going to sleep.
And this is our second room that we use for storage. In our other apartment they had a considerable amount of space to store things. But here in North we don't have really any place to put something we don't use - which stinks! So we use this room for storage, and storage for all our friends too! ha ha.... We have a friend - Seth's old roommate - getting married in December and they have a lot of furniture they inherited from his parents. We get to keep it for them, and I envy it everyday... a nice futon, and two dressers, etc! But we're happy to help.
This is a little pantry we've crammed everything else in! It's right off our little kitchen. We keep all the grills and other sm. appliances there - b/c we have no kitchen space. And other wedding gifts that we hope to someday 're-gift'. Or... when we need to use them, they'll come in handy. We got lots of duplicate stuff but we never took it back.
This is a puzzle we got for a wedding gift from Heidi Kuhn. After we put it together we put it snuggly into a poster frame and it's what we have hanging in our bedroom.
This is my little Japanese corner. It's on the east side of the living room, so you couldn't see it before. But the characters are to say 'hartley'. The first character is 'ai' meaning love, and the second character is 'ri' for the ley part of my maiden name. My trainer made it for me on the mission. And the lantern is from the 100 yen shop in Japan.
This is a close up of the little picture collage Seth made for our living room. It's right above the TV in the earlier pictures. We have a few pictures of our missions, two pictures of while we were dating. An engagement photo we didn't use for our announcements, and a portrait Seth's younger sister Amy drew for us as a wedding gift. We got that picture of the Nauvoo temple as a wedding gift also from my old seminary teacher, the Rowells.
ok! well... that's all folks. Figure I should go cause Seth's incredibly bored, his movie is done. And he has now resorted to watching Titanic on TV. ha ha ha.... I'm going to save the poor boy. ;)
