With Elfyourself.com. I think that's what got my through the weekend, lots of laughs from dancing elves. If only we could really have moves like that, right? Too bad they don't load here on work, otherwise I would be laughing all day long and it would be a tad more exciting around here.
I need to post a picture of our beautiful tree. I love how simple it is, we don't have a ton to put on it, ornament wise... I'm sure that will change over the years. Our Angel on the top, Bertha, is a welcomed addition to our tree this year though, she makes a fabulous tree topper than my struggling Ribbon bow last year.
We've been busy lately, we'll be home in Iowa for Christmas in no time. Last Saturday was a fun work party at Betsy's house. I left my camera in the car, and wish I had taken pictures. I would have taken pictures of our amazing dinner (we all chipped in), the fun presents we played the White Elephant Gift game with, and Betsy's beautiful home.
Last night after work, I went to the library to help Seth with a Genealogy Portfolio he is putting together by his class Wednesday. We met with some of his group members and everyone worked on research in the Family History Library at BYU. I was working with microfilms for a while and then one of the the groupie's wives and Seth both needed help with the microfilms later on. What I was looking up wasn't as exciting as theirs, it was so neat though. One thing we looked up was a 1715 Marriage record from England. We had a difficult time at first, we thought we had the wrong film, but when I actually sat down and looked at the photocopied pages of this hand written (scribbled cursive) small book - we found what we were looking for. In the middle of the page, hardly legible was the name we were looking for and a date. And that was good enough for us. Seth was attempting to find a death notice in a newspaper, The Deseret News, from 1856. Though we found the day and the death notices, the person's name we looked for was not in that paper. So I think the assignment was wrong. But it was neat to read a few of the articles from a 160 yr old newspaper! They had articles on 'spitting' and ads on 'horses for sale', etc. As Seth and I walked back to the car we were thinking if one of those people we looked up in the microfilms time warped to us right then walking to the car they would have a heart attack!! Street lights, cars, heaters in the cars, cement, houses, houses up on the mountain, Christmas lights, etc etc they just would not know what to do with themselves would they?
Phil and Sierra Cho came over for FHE again. We were late and Seth scrambled a lesson from a Conference talk on the Book of Mormon. Ate pie and ice cream left over from the Cho's ward Christmas dinner, and played a few rounds of scattegories. It was a very fun Monday night filled with FHE and Genealogy Work. I need to get into it all more, I'm grateful for my mom and aunts, and especially grandparents who put in so much time and work to find my ancestors. We always have tons of names to take to the temple to do work for them.
Tonight is our ward Christmas dinner, it is in Aspen Grove, I'm very excited for that! I'll have to post about it and we'll see how it goes. Thursday night is another work dinner for me, I'm glad Seth is coming with me since he's been getting busy to work on his final semester projects and tests. This is a busy week, more stuff going on in the evenings to fill in the cracks. I am so excited that next Thursday we leave to drive to Iowa. I hope the weather is just nice enough for a safe ride home!!
