We like FREE stuff!

The BYU bookstore had their grand Christmas season store opening tonight. I got the flyer at work about the store wide 20% off sale last week in our daily 'junk mail' pile. The flyer listed a ton of 'Enter to Win' drawings for signed footballs, a kayak, bike, Thanksgiving floral centerpiece, cook book, etc. But what really got me in for it all... was FREE stuff!

They had a number of items that were free to the first 25-100 customers. The flyer showed the free gift, where to find it, and how many there were available. I totally sat down with Seth last night and we mapped out together the free gift areas of the bookstore. He mapped out individual routes based on what giveaways we wanted most and how many were available. . . Aren't we CRAZY?

So, today my awesome boss Betsy let me leave work a half hour early. Seth picked me up and we got our place in line, only 4 people were ahead of us. Now, I realize we are absolutely hilarious for being so prepared for this. I felt like we were on one of those old game shows where the husband and wife run from store to store to get the box and compare prices and whatever - I don't remember well obviously. BUT! I bought SIX 2 for 1 Stephen's Hot Cocoa's (+ 20%off) from the Twilight Zone just 10 minutes before the bookstore's doors opened. Got that off the list. (6 for $12.75).

My route: Children's Book desk for "A Miracle Christmas" (25 books available), General Book info desk "The Life of our Lord" by Dickens (50 available), Free 8x10 from Photo center (100 available), and then to meet Seth at the Free Watercolor Set (80 available) downstairs at the art section. Seth's route: 1 Gb flash drive at the computer dept upstairs (80 available), T-shirt at the textbook info desk (50 available), Free tote bag at school supplies dept downstairs (100 available). And that is where we met!!

While we waited for the doors to open - I kept telling myself if I were to just get one free thing, I will be happy. I didn't want to be disappointed since the line got to be HUGE outside, and there are 3 different entrances to the bookstore. My heart was seriously pumping out of my chest with excitement as the clock reached 5:00pm and the gates went up. It really was pretty crazy, lots and lots of people. Seth and I ran into each other downstairs just 10 minutes past 5pm. And what did we get?!?EVERYTHING WE PLANNED & HOPED for AND MORE!!! We both got a tote bag(Seth chose the skulls just in case you wondered) and a free 8x10 coupon. HA ha ha ha - I just think we're freaks. It totally worked and paid off though. Now what will we do with all this free stuff? Primary bags, T-shirt, books for my Christmas story basket, Home Teachee/Visiting Teachee christmas gifts, etc. I'm so proud of ourselves. :)

Nice! If I wasn't busy dealing with the stupid financial department, and I knew about the sale, I would have mapped it out too. ;)

That is awesome. I would have done that all for the Stephen's Hot Chocolate. Such a good deal!

We just got a postcard thing from Cabelas. $10 off with no minimum purchase. and one for a friend too! I think I surprised Tim with how excited I am. He was thinking big, but I already have the combined $20 spent on free stuff in my mind.
