President Hinckley has gone home! He and his sweetie pie, Marjorie are together and happy again. It's honestly great news, it was time for him to be home. Seth and I were playing games with people from the ward when we got the news at 8:00pm. The news literally traveled like wildfire! Seth tried to call his sister and parents, but couldn't get through because the network was so busy. We tried to load the news stories on the internet, and it took so long, everything was so busy.
When we got home last night I was reading the news articles on CNN and KSL. Reading of all his life accomplishments was an awesome experience. Two of his talks that were very influential was The Proclamation on the Family and his First Talk as President of the church when he said, "I wish I had the capacity to express my feelings of love and gratitude for you. I stand as your servant." He was the most Christlike man living on the Earth. His service and Humanitarian Aid all over the world has blessed so many. His life was an example to all in so many ways.
Seth was saying just a few days ago that he is seriously almost a century old - that is a LONG time! And we were talking last night how amazing that is, to have gone through both World Wars and the Depression, and see how transportation, media, and technology has advanced. It's weird enough to think that CDs have been invented in our lifetime! Craziness... What a wonderful life he had and all that he did!
I will miss his humor and compassion. I'm sure the party up in heaven is the biggest one they've had in a long time... he was a stud!
