Seth's surgery...

Last Monday Seth got a sebaceous cyst on his back (left shoulder blade)removed. Because he has great insurance until the end of this semester - he had this small surgery for super cheap! There was no threat or concern to not have it removed, but we wanted to take advantage of the insurance.
So, here at the Health Center where I work, he had it removed. It was very, very interesting. I got to go in and see... he laid on his stomach on the table and the doc just made a fine incision (numbed it first). He scraped each side of the incision and then pulled out a white sac of ... stuff. (sorry if this disgusts most of you). It came out all at once, so they don't suspect it to come back at all. It was seriously interesting though. they measured it at 1.5x2cm... They stitched him up w/ 3 stitches and told him to take it easy for the next 2 weeks - then he'll get the stitches out. After that... he still needs to be pretty careful because of the location. Anyway... It was a very simple and easy procedure. Usually that stuff doesn't bother me... but I sure did get quite light headed, had to ask for water (when they were stitching him up) and laid my head down so I wouldn't pass out. (That's why they don't let spouses/mothers in those appts. - and I thought I could handle it.)
Seth doesn't do too well with blood, etc... and he was pretty nervous!! He did so well though... and got a dum dum for being so good. He's been pretty sore though. After 8 days he can now give me a hug with both arms.

But... Thursday he noticed a bump on his bottom lip... over night and Friday morning it grew and grew and we knew he had some kind of infection. He came in to the Student Health Center to talk with a nurse and then see a doctor. The nurse said he had a cold sore - I said, "no, he does not get cold sores. He never has!" And another nurse didn't think it was a cold sore, but some kind of infection.

Seth texted me the verdict 45 min later... it was a cold sore. I was devastated. You see... when we first started dating, one of the first questions I asked was if he gets cold sores. As low as I am for it, that mattered to me. I was so relieved that he has never been infected with it... and some how - now... he is. We think it could be the stress from the surgery. Anyway - he got some medicine for it - SO EXPENSIVE!!! This tiny tiny tube for 50 bucks, and some pills to help it not get bigger. Which it has...
His bottom lip is just a mountain of cold sore, poor thing can't sleep at night. But I think it may have hit the worst, and is beginning to get better... hopefully. But... no kisses for me... not for another 2 weeks or perhaps more? Sigh, it's been rough - But he's quite the trooper. Needless to say... Seth hasn't had the best 'health' week!
